the case of the Juridical Residency at the São Paulo City Attorney’s Office

This article aims to analyze the teaching methodology employed in the course "Theory and Practice of Municipal Public Advocacy – Juridical Residency" provided by the São Paulo City Attorney’s Office, specifically by its Center for Legal Studies and Higher School of Municipal Public Law. The course integrates the theory and practice of public law, wherein students participate as observers in the daily work of attorneys. The scarcity of literature on this subject emphasizes the need for further studies on this educational approach. In the case under examination, data were gathered from documents detailing the course planning, its execution and students' activity. It can be said that the analyzed Juridical Residence represents a unique case that incorporates active learning into the pedagogical planning, successfully achieving its objective of connecting the practice of public law with theoretical knowledge in the legal field by emphasizing the student's daily activities as the primary mode of learning.
